The project includes an office building for a general contractor specializing in the construction of luxury homes. The office building's layout is derived from the various site constraints (wetlands and municipality setbacks) while taking advantage of maximum southern exposure. The floor plan is designed to have two companies separated by a common entry and building services. Each company also has its own entrance for maximum flexibility and identity.
The building is a single story with generous interior spaces created by exposed truss construction and roof structural insulated panels. The exterior style is a modern interpretation of precedents from English Countryside, Tudor and Craftsman architecture. The materials reinforce the aesthetic: stucco walls with a stone base, board & batten walls with a composite materials base, metal standing seam roofing, asphalt shingle roofing, fiberglass single-hung windows and aluminum storefront doors. The materials are arranged logically to help define and distinguish the various volumes of the building. Details, including the knife-edge overhangs, stucco window jamb returns and wooden brackets are functionally and aesthetically appropriate.
